THE ROLE OF GODS IN ANCIENT EGYPT
HOW THEY AFFECTED PEOPLE'S LIVES
A very large part of Egyptian life was worshiping gods and goddesses, they felt it was very important to please them.
The Egyptians would hold daily rituals and give offerings to the gods and goddessed, such as food, drink, clothing and ointments.
The Pharaoh was believed to be a god in human form, therefore it was their job to please the gods through rituals and offerings to maintain order in Egypt. Massive rituals and offerings were held by the Pharaoh in large temples for the most important gods such as Amun Ra and Horus. These rituals and offerings were held for the most important gods as they were thought to have controlled large and important aspects of daily life in Ancient Egypt, and were carried out in order to keep these gods happy and keep balance and order in Egypt.
Other gods and goddesses were worshipped by normal people in their own homes. People would give offerings to the gods and godesses of whatever they needed help with or just for protection in daily life e.g. people would worship Isis for this. People would often light insence and offer items such as food and water when they were worshipping at home.
Gods and Goddesses were a huge part of Ancient Egyptian life as they believed that the gods were controlling everything around them, so it was a very important part of an ancient Egyptians day to make sure they made offerings to the gods in order to keep them happy.

Hyrogliphics such as this have given us an insight into different rituals that the ancient Egyptians performed as this is how the Egyptians would record their information.
